Configure the Contract Working Hours Rule

You can configure Dayforce to mark shifts as problems if you schedule employees for more complementary hours than their contract allows.

After you add two Contract Working Hours Rules to the schedule rule policy (one for validating work contract hours and one for validating total hours) as described in Configure Schedule Policies for Work Contracts, you must add a Contract Working Hours Rule for validating complementary hours.

To configure the schedule rule policy for complementary hours:

  1. Go to SchedulesSchedule Rule Policy.
  2. Select a schedule rule policy. The policy’s details open in a slide-out panel.
  3. In the Rule Set Configuration section, click the add icon () and then click Rule.
  4. In the Type drop-down list, select Contract Working Hours Rule.
  5. Enter a name and, optionally, a description for the rule.
  6. In the Permitted Time Below Work Contract field, enter the maximum number of hours that employees can be scheduled below their contract hours before Dayforce marks shifts as problems.
  7. In the Permitted Time Above Contract field, enter the maximum number of hours that employees can be scheduled above their contract before Dayforce marks shifts as problems.
  8. In the Min Severity and Max Severity drop-down lists, specify the severity level that Dayforce assigns shifts that violate the hours specified in the Permitted Time Below Contract and Permitted Time Above Contract fields.
  9. In the Complementary Status drop-down list, select ComplementaryOnly so that the rule validates only complementary hours (that is, it doesn’t validate the normal contract hours).
  10. Click Save.
