When configuring the job set rates using the basic method, after you configure job rate sets and levels, you must assign the Apply Job Rate Set Rule to pay policies. The rule defines how Dayforce determines which job set level employees fall under in their job rate set.
For example, the rule can be configured to base the employee’s job set level on hours worked. Dayforce distinguishes between an employee who has worked under 500 hours and above 500 hours, and pays them the appropriate pay rate.
Dayforce determines what job set level an employee belongs to based on the step value employees earned the day before. Continuing the example, if an employee worked 496 hours as of Monday, on Tuesday Dayforce still considers them to be in the under 500 hours job set level. If the employee works eight hours on Tuesday, all eight hours are paid at the pay rate associated with the under 500 hours job set level. On Wednesday, the employee has worked 504 hours as of the previous day, and Dayforce automatically advances their level and pays them at the job rate for the above 500 hours level.
After job rate sets and levels are configured, the Apply Job Step Policy Rule must be assigned to the appropriate pay policies. For Dayforce to know when to pay an employee using their job set rate, every pay policy that is assigned to employees should include at least one instance of the Apply Job Step Policy Rule.
Note: When Worked Hours is selected in the Step value type drop-down list, the rule can’t be used to accumulate worked time separately for separate jobs. If you need to accumulate time separately for separate jobs, you might want to use a job step policy.
Configure the Apply Job Rate Set Rule in the Rules Configuration tab in Pay Setup > Pay Policy. See Apply Job Rate Set Rule.
