Configure Transaction Types

In Dayforce, transaction types dictate how balances can be altered by transactions. For example, depending on the transaction type, Dayforce can decrement or increment balances.

Dayforce features system-generated transaction types that can’t be edited or deleted, but you can also add custom transaction types.

You can view transactions from custom transaction types in People in the Work > Balances screen, in the Actual Balances section when you expand a balance record:

  • Transactions from custom transaction types are shown in the Transactions list.
  • Transactions from system-generated transaction types are shown in the System Transactions list.

Role feature access: Pay SetupPay Setup > Balances > Balance Transaction Type

To add a transaction type:

  1. Go to Pay Setup > Balances and click the Transaction Types tab.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Enter a name and description for the transaction type.
  4. Click Save.
