Each job set level in a job set is assigned a pay rate and step value, which allows Dayforce to pay employees at a specific rate when they achieve the step value associated with that level. For example, you could configure level 2 of a job set with a pay rate of $10 and a step value of 6. With this configuration, employees are paid $10 an hour when they reach 6 months of service.
Note: Though the step value is configured in Pay Setup > Job Rate, the unit for that step value (for example, worked hours or weeks of service) is configured in the Apply Job Rate Set Rule (in the basic method) or the Accumulation Rule (in the expanded method). The Apply Job Rate Set Rule is a pay rule which you configure in your pay policy in Pay Setup > Pay Policy. The Accumulation Rule is a job step rule which you configure in your job step policy in Pay Setup > Job Rate. See Apply Job Rate Set Rule or Job Step Rules and Qualifiers Library.
To configure effective pay rates and step values:
- Go to Pay Setup > Job Rate and click the Job Rates tab.
- Select the job set and job set level that you want to configure a pay rate and step value for.
- In the Effective Pay Rates and Step Value for Job Set Level section, click Add.
- Select a start date in the Effective From field and, optionally, an end date in the Effective To field.
- Enter values in the Step Value and Pay Rate fields.
- (Optional) Job set levels can be configured so that Dayforce pays employees the level's corresponding pay rate, even if it's lower than the employee’s base rate (as defined in People). To pay employees at the job set level’s pay rate, even if it's lower than their base rate, select the Override Base Rate checkbox. Clear the checkbox and employees are paid the higher of their job set level’s pay rate or base rate.
- Select a location in the Location field to limit a pay rate and step value to a specific location.
- Click Save.
If you are using the basic method, proceed to Configure the Apply Job Set Rate Rule.
If you are using the expanded method, proceed to Configure Job Step Policies.
