To configure default labor metrics for an employee:
- Go to People, open the employee profile, and click Work > Default Labor.
- Click Add.
- Specify what job assignment, project, docket, or pay code the employee’s worked time is charged against by selecting values in the corresponding drop-down lists.
- Enter the default labor’s effective start and end dates.
- If the employee’s time entry policy includes user-defined labor metric codes, click the drop-down arrow to access an additional section below the list where you can configure default codes for each labor metric:

- In the expanded section, click Add.
- In the Labor Metrics Type field, select a labor metric type to assign to the employee.
- In the Labor Metrics Code field, specify a default labor metric code for the labor metric type that you selected.
- Click Save.
Dayforce shows the employee’s default labor metrics in Timesheets and Employee Timesheet. As users edit or record worked shifts, any default labor selections are made, by default, from the appropriate drop-down list.
For example, when an employee is assigned the 001 docket, Dayforce selects the docket by default in the docket drop-down list:
Worked time is charged against the docket, as visible when you view pay details in the Pay panel:
Work > Timesheet also uses this functionality. Dayforce selects the appropriate labor metrics from the corresponding drop-down lists on each row employees add, as well as the first row shown when the user hasn’t recorded any time yet:
