Configure Daily and Weekly Balance Units

To support daily and weekly TAFW balances, you need to configure new balance units or update existing balance units with a base unit type in Pay Setup > Balances. A base unit type represents the base time unit that Dayforce uses to track a balance. By default, Dayforce tracks balances on a minute basis and you can configure how those minutes shape other balance units, such as hours or days, using formulas. However, for balances in days and balances in weeks, you must configure a day and week unit with the equivalent day and week base unit types, assuming you’re configuring both daily and weekly TAFW balances.

Role feature access: Pay Setup > Pay Setup > Balances > Balance Unit > Base Unit Type

To configure base unit types for daily and weekly TAFW balances:

  1. Go to Pay Setup > Balances and click the Units tab.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Click Add to add a new balance unit and configure it as needed.
    • Select an existing day or week balance unit.
  3. In the Base Unit Type drop-down list, select either Day or Week, depending on the time unit.
  4. Click Save.

Additionally, you might need to add new balances in the Balances tab, or update existing balances with the new balance units you just created. To do this, select a balance in the side panel and in the Options section, select a different balance unit in the Units drop-down list.
