Cascade Accumulation Rule

The Cascade Accumulation Rule controls how cascades step values between grades when an employee is assigned more than one job.

For example, you could configure this rule so that Dayforce applies the step value an employee earned in their primary job to any job they work at a higher grade. Say that an employee has earned a step value of 60 in their primary job. When this employee works at a non-primary job at a higher grade, Dayforce cascades that step value to the non-primary job, meaning that the employee is paid at the rate that corresponds to a step value of 60 in Dayforce that grade.

Before You Begin: When you configure this rule in your ruleset hierarchy, it should run before the Rate Rule. Additionally, for this rule to function properly, ensure that you configure the Grade field in the Job Rates tab for the appropriate job sets.

Cascade Accumulation Rule settings
Setting Description
Grade comparator The operator that determines the grades which Dayforce cascades step values to. For example, to cascade only to jobs with a grade lower than or equal to the one for the current job, select LessThanOrEqual.
Cascade to and from primary Include an employee’s primary job when cascading step values. When cleared, Dayforce doesn’t cascade step values to or from an employee’s primary job, even if the job meets the other criteria configured in the rule.
Include departments The departments a job must be in for Dayforce to cascade step values to it. For example, with Sales selected, Dayforce cascades only to jobs in the Sales department.
Exclude departments The departments that prevent Dayforce from cascading step values to a job. For example, with Operations selected, Dayforce doesn’t cascade to any jobs in the Operations department.
Include jobs The jobs to which Dayforce cascades step values. For example, with Associate selected, Dayforce cascades only to the Associate job.
Exclude jobs The jobs to which Dayforce doesn’t cascade step values. For example, with Team Lead selected, Dayforce doesn’t cascade to the Team Lead job.
