The Total Renumeration Package (TRP) calculator helps you calculate total remuneration package values for employees more efficiently from inside the People feature.
Role feature access: Application Container > People > Employee Profile > Employment > Employment Settings > Employment Status > Total Remuneration Calculator (and its subfeatures)
To calculate a Total Remuneration Package for an employee in an Australian pay group:
- Go to People, open the employee profile, and click Employment > Employment Settings.
- Click the calculator icon (
) beside the Base Rate or Annual Salary fields. The TRP calculator slides out and shows a summary of the employee's job-related data, such as pay type and pay grade.
- In the Configure Total Remuneration Package section, select one of the following Package Type options as a starting point for your calculations:
- Bottom-Up: Uses the employee's current base rate or annual salary from the Employment > Employment Settings screen of People. Enter an updated target base rate or annual salary for the new package calculation.
- Top-Down: Requires you to enter the target Total Remuneration Package Value.
- (Optional) Select the Include Target Bonus checkbox to include the employee's bonus in the calculation.
- Click Calculate Package. The TRP calculation shows a summary of the employee's current package compared to their new package. The calculation is the sum of the following components:
- Annual salary and base rate. If it's applicable to the employee, their compa-ratio is also included in the summary. Compa-ratio is a percentage calculated as the employee’s pay amount relative to the control point of the pay grade for their job. See Compa-Ratio Calculation.
- Superannuation. This section includes details of the superannuation that is set up for the employee in the Payroll > Superannuation screen of People. See Overview of Superannuation Settings in the People Feature in the Payroll Administrator Guide.
- Payroll elections (earnings or deductions). This section includes details of the TRP eligible payroll elections that are set up for the employee in the Payroll > Payroll Elections screen of People, and Total Remuneration Packages > Earnings and Deductions Eligibility.
- Target bonus. The bonus percentage is taken from the Default Target Bonus (%) or the Target Bonus Override (%) fields in the Employment > Employment Settings screen of People.
-
- Click Update Annual Salary or Update Base Rate to copy the new annual salary or base rate that you calculated to the Annual Salary or Base Rate fields in the Employment > Employment Settings screen.
- Important: The updated annual salary or base rate is saved and TRP values are shared with the Reporting and Letter Management features when you click Save in the Employment > Employment Settings screen after you close the calculator.
- (Optional) Click Print to select the components that you want to include in the TRP summary that you can share with the employee. Click Print again to send the summary to your printer.
