You can configure break attestation functionality in Dayforce. When configured, employees can report when they missed a break (or number of breaks) during a shift, which might entitle them to a pay premium for the extra time worked. You can tailor break attestation functionality to your organization’s needs by customizing the minimum shift length an employee must work to be eligible, the minimum break length that can count as a missed rest period, and the pay rate of the premium, among other settings.
Dayforce supports two types of break attestation:
- Single: When this break attestation type is configured, employees (or managers on their behalf) can report that a single break was missed during a shift.
- Multiple: When this break attestation type is configured, employees (or managers on their behalf) can report that multiple breaks were missed, and specify the exact number of breaks that were taken during a shift.
Break attestation is configured in time entry policies. With the appropriate role access and time entry policy assignment, employees can mark on their timesheets when they miss a break. Alternatively, employees who clock in and out using the Dayforce Touch Clock or Clock+ can clock out and report missed breaks at the same time, when appropriate.
Finally, employees must have a pay policy assignment with the Break Premium Rule configured. This pay rule determines whether employees are eligible for a premium for missed breaks.
