Benefits Setup

Enables Benefits Setup, where you can create plan carriers; manage benefit plans, including plan eligibility, rates, participants, and payroll mappings; configure enrollments; set up a payroll integration; and define templates and the Benefits Overview. Assign this feature to enable Benefits Setup in the navigation panel.

Benefits Setup Subfeatures

Benefit Properties: Enables Benefit Properties in the navigation panel. You can define benefit properties, such as carrier certificate numbers, which you can then associate with employees in the Benefits > Benefit Properties screen of People.

Benefits Reports: Enables the Reports drop-down list in Benefits Setup > Plans and Options.

  • Benefits Plan Configuration Audit Report: Enables the Benefits Plan Configuration Audit Report option in the Reports drop-down list in Benefits Setup > Plans and Options. The report returns information on the configuration of benefits plans and options, by plan type.

COBRA Event Reason (US only): Enables COBRA Event Reason in the navigation panel. You can define COBRA Event reasons, which Dayforce assigns when employees lose coverage in a plan subject to COBRA, without subsequently enrolling in another COBRA plan option. These events are shown in the following features:

  • COBRA tab in Benefits Administration
  • Benefits > COBRA screen in People.

Cost Splitting Configuration: Enables Cost Splitting Configuration in the navigation panel. You can set and test how Dayforce determines which benefits are paid for by the employee, which are paid for by the employer, and the division of those costs by percentage with cost splitting configurations.

Customize Content: Enables Customize Content in the navigation panel. You can customize information that shows for employees in the Overview and Dependent Verification tabs of Benefits.

  • Dependent Verification: Enables Dependent Verification in the navigation panel. You can change the default text, add hyperlinks, and localize the text for employees to see in Benefits > Dependent Verification.
  • Overview Page: Enables Overview Page in the navigation panel. You can enter custom benefits information that shows for employees in Benefits > Overview.

Benefits Decision Support(US only): Enables Benefits Decision Support in the navigation panel. You can configure information that helps your employees to make benefits selections during the guided enrollment process.

Eligibility: Enables Eligibility in the navigation panel. You can configure eligibility qualifiers or define relationships between qualifiers, so that each qualifier is applied as configured, universally across Dayforce.

Enrollment Events: Enables Enrollment Events in the navigation panel. You can define events that can be used to collect additional information from an employee during Life Event Enrollments. Dayforce uses the information that employees provide to control enrollment restrictions, which you can associate with these events.

Enrollments: Enables Enrollments in the navigation panel. You can determine when employees can access enrollments and elect benefits options in Benefits. Users with access to this feature can configure the timing and duration of the enrollment period, as well as the content and appearance of the enrollment guided process.

Flex Credit Setup (Canada only): Enables Flex Credit Setup in the navigation panel. You can configure flex credit plans and the order to apply flex credits to the benefit plans.

  • Flex Credit Plans: Enables Flex Credit Plans in the navigation panel. You can configure flex credit plans with eligibility qualifiers, tiers, annual flex credit amounts, and participant definition rules.
  • Flex Credit Order: Enables Flex Credit Order in the navigation panel. You can configure the flex credit order with eligibility qualifiers to apply to benefit plans during enrollment.

Notifications: Enables Notifications in the navigation panel. You can configure the notifications that employees receive for their dependents.

  • Dependent Age Out: Enables Dependent Age Out in the navigation panel. You can configure notifications that employees and administrators receive when dependents are going to reach the maximum age limit in the benefits enrollment.
  • Dependent Verification: Enables Dependent Verification in the navigation panel. You can configure the notifications that employees and administrators receive during the dependent verification process.
  • Qualified Medical Child Support Order: Enables Qualified Medical Child Support Order in the navigation panel. You can configure the notifications that employees receive when a QMCSO is initiated or terminated for their dependents. Administrators also receive notifications if configured as a recipient role.

Payroll Integration Setup: Enables Payroll Integration Setup in the navigation panel. You can designate the benefits payroll integration method and configure exceptions to the configured method by earning or deduction code or by pay group.

Note: Imputed income can't be updated from the system defaults and isn’t included in the payroll integration configuration feature.

Plan Carriers: Enables Plan Carriers in the navigation panel. You can define plan carriers so that plans and options are associated with a benefits provider. When Dayforce is configured to use the Dayforce Payroll features, you can also associate carriers with a payee that is configured in the Payroll features.

Important: It’s necessary to define plan carriers if your organization uses the carrier feed export.

Plan Option Group: Enables Plan Option Group in the navigation panel. You can configure plan option groups that define sets of mutually exclusive benefit options. Dayforce uses these groups to validate that an employee never has two mutually exclusive elections at the same time.

Plans and Options: Enables Plans and Options in the navigation panel. You can define plan types, configure coverage periods, eligibility, plan options, rates, and participant definitions, and assign payroll mappings.

Templates: Enables Templates in the navigation panel. You can define how current elections and benefits election update summaries are shown in Benefits > Current Elections and Benefits > History.
