Background Jobs Configuration
The Dayforce Background Job Engine is a tool used to perform a number of background jobs (occasionally called background tasks) for a wide variety of reasons. For example, to import or export pay and payroll data or employee information and records, to add, update, or delete data, to trigger alerts, and to perform aggregation tasks.
You can run background jobs in System Admin > Background Jobs. There are three tabs available in System Admin > Background Jobs, which are described in subsequent topics:
- The Available Jobs Tab: Lists all available background jobs that you can run and schedule.
- The Job Logs Tab: Displays logs for background jobs that have run.
- The Scheduled Jobs Tab: Lists all jobs that are configured to run on a schedule.
There are two kinds of background jobs in Dayforce: Client level and Site level:
- Client-level background jobs are displayed in System Admin > Background Jobs. You can run and schedule these background jobs.
- Site-level background jobs are scheduled by Dayforce personnel outside of the user interface that is available to customers. This means that even though these tasks are scheduled, they aren't displayed in the Scheduled Jobs tab of System Admin > Background Jobs, and, generally, you can't view details about them in System Admin > Background Jobs > Job Logs. Most site-level background tasks are internal and meant for maintenance of the Dayforce application.
