Apply the Pay Resolution Rule

For the tardy processing to function correctly, you need to apply the Pay Resolution Rule to the pay policies assigned to any employee you want to use tardy processing on. When Dayforce marks employee timesheets with tardy codes, it creates pay adjustments which are then applied to the employee’s pay records by the Pay Resolution Rule.

Before You Begin: Dayforce uses pay policies with configurable pay rules and qualifiers to ensure that employees are paid correctly. These policies should already be configured in Dayforce. See Configure Pay Policies.

To apply the Pay Resolution Rule:

  1. Go to Pay Setup > Pay Policy and select a pay policy. A slide-out panel opens.
  2. In the Rules Configuration tab, click the add icon and then click Rule.
  3. Enter a name and, optionally, a description for the rule.
  4. Enter the rule’s effective dates.
  5. In the Type drop-down list, click Pay Resolution Rule.
  6. In the Eligible resolution pay codes setting, select the pay codes that you configured as tardy or resolution codes.
  7. Select the Apply pay category from resolution pay code checkbox.
  8. Click Save.

About Meal Tardies

If you want to use tardy functionality to mark excessively long meal breaks, add two separate Pay Resolution Rules to your pay policy. The first rule is required to ensure that when a meal is taken after the scheduled shift end, the system doesn’t pay the meal at REG time:

Example of the first rule configuration.

The second rule is required to ensure that the meal tardy that might be configured in the time entry policy is respected (where a meal longer than a specified amount of time gets changed to “Long Lunch”). This is instead of just removing the MEAL as an ineligible pay code in the first Pay Resolution Rule:
