Additional Balance Settings

If necessary, you can configure some optional settings to support additional requirements.

Enable Printing on Earning Statements

When configuring balances, you can set Dayforce to show the balance on earnings statements. You can do this in Pay Setup > Balances in the Balances tab, in the Options section using the following checkboxes:

  • Print Current Balance on Payroll
  • Print Current Accrued on Payroll
  • Print Current Taken on Payroll

Select one or more of these checkboxes to show the balance on employee earning statements, and enter a label in the Print Label field. See Balance Settings.

Note: Dayforce might truncate the Print Label on payment forms printed by the back office (checks and earning statements) but shows the full value on earning statements viewed in Dayforce. Also, because the balance amounts that are printed and shown on checks and earning statements are effective as of the end of the pay run, they aren’t specific to various checks paid on the run. As a result, the balances are only printed on employees’ normal checks and not on any on-site checks.

When selected for a particular balance, Dayforce includes any amounts the employee accrued and used within a pay period, as well as their balance at the end of the pay period, on earning statements in Earnings and in the Statements > Earning Statements screen of People. These amounts are also printed on US and Canadian printed earning statements. The balance’s label is defined using the Print Label field.

This setting can only be used with the Payroll functionality of Dayforce. If Dayforce hasn’t been configured to use the Payroll features, ignore these fields.

Award in 1-Hour Increments

Some policies might require that awards must be made in 1-hour increments. This functionality is controlled by the Whole Number Only setting, which is available in Pay Setup > Balances in the Balances tab, in the Options section.

To configure Dayforce to show the balance using only whole numbers, select the Whole Number Only checkbox. When selected, Dayforce rounds the balance down to show whole numbers, and the entitlement engine enforces balance minimums in whole number increments.

Note: Users can’t deduct partial units below the balance minimums. For example, if a user has a balance of 7.5 hours that is rounded and shown as 7 hours, the user can only deduct 7 hours.
