Add a Vacation Bidding Policy

To add a vacation bidding policy:

  1. Go to Vacation Bidding Setup and open the Bidding Policy tab.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Enter a name and, optionally, a description for the bidding policy.
  4. (Optional) In the Reference Code field, enter a reference code for the bidding policy. This code must be unique and must not contain special characters.
  5. In the Order of Priorities panel, configure the employee bidding order. Use the left and right arrow icons to move sorting options from the Available column to the Selected column:
  6. Arrow icons in the Order of Priorities section
  7. (Optional) In the Selected column, use the up and down arrow icons to rearrange the sorting hierarchy.
  8. (Optional) In the Selected column, select a sort order in the Priority drop-down list. Dayforce shows text next to each selection to indicate how the employees will be sorted.
  9. In the Eligible Pay Code drop-down list, select the pay code that pays out pay adjustments for approved vacation periods.
  10. In the Minimum Days and Maximum Days fields, enter the minimum and maximum number of days that employees can bid for time away periods.
  11. (Optional) In the Preferred Vacation Block panel, create a mandatory vacation length that employees must follow when submitting vacation bids.
    • Select the Active checkbox to enable a preferred vacation block.
    • In the Consecutive Days field, specify the minimum number of consecutive days for a requested vacation period. When configured, Dayforce accepts bids only for vacation periods with a duration that is a multiple of that value. For example, if you enter 7, bids must be for 7, 14, or 21 consecutive days off, or any other value that is a multiple of “7.”
    • In the Day Start drop-down list, select the day of the week upon which the requested vacation period must begin.
  12. Note: Dayforce automatically updates the value in the Minimum Days field with the same value that you enter in the Consecutive Days field, if the values differ. Further, you might need to update the value in the Maximum Days field because it must be a multiple of the value entered in the Consecutive Days field.
  13. (Optional) In the Bidding Calendar panel, use the checkboxes to configure whether Dayforce shows or hides some vacation bidding information and options for employees in Work > Calendar:
    • Hide Wait List Rank
    • Prevent Remove Bid Request
    • Prevent bid requests on days with 0 slots available
  14. Click Save.

You can configure as many vacation bidding policies as necessary. After configuration, you can associate them with calendars in Vacation Bidding Setup in the Calendars tab to configure the submission and processing rounds of your organization’s vacation bidding sessions.
