Add a Long Service Leave Policy

To add a long service leave (LSL) policy:

  1. Go to Pay Setup > Long Service Leave.
  2. In the Policies tab, click Add. Dayforce opens a slide-out panel.
  3. In the General tab, enter a name, description, and reference code for the policy. Reference codes must be unique and must not contain special characters.
  4. In the Mode drop-down list, select a calculation mode: either Legacy or Enhanced Validation. See Calculation Modes.
  5. Click the State/Territory Details tab and click Add in the side panel to add a region-specific record. Dayforce adds a record to the side panel and shows settings in the General and Configuration sections.
  6. In the General section, configure the following settings:
    • Name
    • Reference Code (This code must be unique and must not contain special characters)
    • Country
    • State (optional)
  7. In the Configuration section, click Add. Dayforce shows the Employment Categories subsection, but first configure the following settings:
    • Effective From
    • Effective To
    • Continuous Years Required for Initial Entitlement
    • Continuous Years Required after Initial Entitlement
    • Continuous Years Required for Payment
  8. In the Employment Categories subsection, click Add in the side panel to add an employment category record. Dayforce adds a record to the side panel and shows two subtabs: Leave Categories and Employment Statuses.
  9. Configure the following employment category settings:
    • Category
    • Pay Classes
  10. In the Leave Categories subtab, click Add to add a leave category record. Configure the following settings:
    • Leave Category
    • Either TAFW Pay Codes or Employment Status Reason
    • Extend Long Service Leave Eligibility Date After
    • End Continuous Service After
  11. Click the Employment Statuses subtab, and click Add to add an employment status record. Configure the following settings:
    • Status
    • Reason (optional)
    • End Continuous Service After
  12. (Optional) Add any additional regional, configuration, employment category, leave category, and employment status records.
  13. Click Save.
