Add Development Plan Sections

When you add a development plan section, you can specify whether you want Dayforce to automatically populate employees' development plans from the Development Plans feature, and whether you want to allow users to create new development plans directly from the review form.

The fields and purposes that are available to users when they create development plans depends on the configuration in the Development Plan Setup feature. See Development Plan Setup.

To add a development plan section to a review form:

  1. Go to Performance Setup > Review Setup.
  2. Click the Review Cycles tab.
  3. In the Sections tab, click New and select Development Plan.
  4. Enter a value in the Name field.
  5. This value defines the name that is displayed in the section header in the review form.
  6. (Optional) Enter a description of the section in the Description field. This value isn’t user-facing.
  7. (Optional) Enter instructions for the section in the Instruction Text field.
  8. This value defines the text that is displayed in the blue text box under the section heading.
  9. Select the Create Development Plan From Review Form checkbox to allow users to create new development plans from the review form during the review process.
  10. Select the Include Existing Development Plans checkbox to pull in any development plans that have been created already for the employee.
  11. (Optional) Enter a value between 0 and 100 in the Sectional Weight field.
  12. You must either configure weight for all sections of the form, or else not configure weight for any sections (that is, leave the field cleared) of the form. If you don’t configure weight for any section, all sections have equal weight.
  13. (Optional) Select the Add weights to individual plans checkbox if you want to allow managers to define individual weights for each development plan in the review. See Individual Weights.
  14. Select an option from the Rating Scale drop-down list.
  15. This field is automatically populated with the overall rating scale, but you can change it if needed. See Section Rating Scales.
  16. (Optional) Select the Required checkbox if you want to force users to enter a rating for each plan. Clearing the checkbox allows users to not add a rating.
  17. Select Yes or No in the Comments field to specify whether each plan will have a Comments field in the review. If you select Yes, you can also select the Required checkbox to make filling out the comments mandatory. (Clearing the checkbox allows users to not add comments.)
  18. Click in the Purpose field to select one or more purposes from a list.
  19. Note: You cannot select the same purpose in more than one section of the review form.
  20. Click Save.
