When you add a competency section, Dayforce automatically populates employees’ competencies from Performance into their review form based on assignment type and category.
To add a competency section to a review form:
- Go to Performance Setup > Review Setup.
- Click the Review Cycles tab.
- In the Sections tab, click New and select Competency.
- Enter a value in the Name field, which has a 64 character limit.
- This value defines the name that is displayed in the section header in the review form.
- Enter a description of the section in the Description field. This value isn’t user facing.
- Enter instructions for the section in the Instruction Text field. This value defines the text that is displayed in the blue text box under the section heading.
- Enter a value between 0 and 100 in the Sectional Weight field, if needed; otherwise leave it cleared.
- You must either configure weight for all sections of the form, or not configure weight for any sections (that is, leave the field cleared) of the form. If you don’t configure weight for any section, all sections have equal weight.
- Select the Add weights to individual competencies checkbox if you want to allow managers to define individual weights for each competency in the review. See Individual Weights.
- Select an option from the Rating Scale drop-down list.
- This field is automatically populated with the overall rating scale, but you can change it if needed. See Section Rating Scales.
- Select the Required checkbox if you want to force users to enter a rating for each competency. Clearing the checkbox allows users to not add a rating.
- Select Yes or No in the Comments field to specify whether each competency will have a Comments field in the review. If you select Yes, you can also select the Required checkbox to make filling out the comments mandatory. (Clearing the checkbox allows users to not add comments.)
- Select at least one of the following checkboxes in the Include parameter:
- Job Based Competencies: All job based competencies associated with the employee's job are pulled into the section.
- Assigned Competencies: All competencies that managers or administrators have manually assigned to the employee are pulled into the section.
- Core Competencies: All Core competencies are pulled into the section.
- After you select an option from the Include parameter, Dayforce displays the Competency Categories field at the bottom of the screen.
- (Optional) Select one or more categories in the Competency Categories field to further filter the competencies pulled into the section.
- Note: You cannot select the same combination of competency category and competency type, in more than one section of the review form. Selecting competency categories is optional. If you don’t select any, then all competencies are added, including those with no categories assigned.
- Click Save.
