Update Custom Clock Configurations

Administrators can update custom clock configurations and localizations in Dayforce.

To update a clock’s configuration:

  1. Go to Site SetupClock Configuration.
  2. In the Device Type drop-down list, select a clock device type.
  3. (Optional) Select a configuration group in the Clock Configuration Group drop-down list. Clock configuration groups allow organizations to have multiple, different clock configurations to group their clocks under. See Set Up Clock Configuration Groups.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To update the clock’s configuration file, click the Configuration tab. Dayforce shows the default configuration and custom configuration files in separate sections.
    • To update the clock’s localization file, click the Localization tab. Dayforce shows the default localization and custom localization files in separate sections.
  5. The following screenshot shows the default configuration and custom configuration sections for the Dayforce Touch Clock:

  7. Modify the custom (or, override) configuration or localization file, as needed.
  8. The custom configuration file determines the behavior of the clock through the definition of several entries or “keys.” See the clock program library documentation for your Dayforce clock.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Click Validate. Dayforce shows a message when the validation completes successfully:
  11. Green validation message stating that the clock configuration was successfully validated.
  12. If the configuration doesn’t validate successfully, review the XML you provided in the custom configuration or localization file and correct any errors.
  13. Click Publish. Dayforce shows a prompt to confirm.
  14. Click Yes. Dayforce submits the updated override file to the clock to apply any updates to the clock configuration or localization.
  • After updating the clock configuration or localization files, you need to prompt the clocks to update their software. To do so:
    1. Go to Site Setup > Clock Devices.
    2. Expand the clock you want to update from the list.
    3. Select the Update Software checkbox.
    4. Click Save.
