Submit a Time Away From Work Request

In self-service mode, you can click Time Away to view your current and recent time away from work (TAFW) requests and submit new requests for time away.

To submit a TAFW request:

  1. In the login screen, follow the prompts to log in.
  2. Complete any verification steps that the clock prompts.
  3. In the home screen, click Self Service. The clock opens another login screen.
  4. Enter your Dayforce user name and password, and then click Log In.
  5. When you log in successfully, the clock shows the Time and pay tab with the additional self-service functions.
  6. Click Time Away.
  7. In the Time Away From Work screen, click New Request.
  8. Select the TAFW reason (that is, balance) for your time away request, and then click Next.
  9. Select the type of TAFW that you want to request. Depending on your Dayforce configuration, the following types of TAFW are available:
    • All Day
    • Half Day
    • Partial Day
    • Hours Per Day
    • Day Segments
  10. After selecting a TAFW type, click Next.
  11. Configure the date range for your TAFW request, and then click Next.
  12. Do one of the following, depending on your selection in step 8:
    • If you selected Partial Day, specify the portion of the day that you want for time away.
    • If you selected Hours Per Day, enter the number of hours that you want off for each day that’s included in the request’s date range, and then click Next.
    • If you selected Day Segments, select the segment of the day that you want off: Day or Night, and then click Next.
  13. Optionally, enter a comment. Click Next.
  14. In the Confirm and Submit screen, verify your TAFW request’s configuration, and then do one of the following:
    • Click Submit to submit the request.
    • Click Previous to return to the previous steps, or click the Edit button that’s next to any of the request details to edit those specific details.
