Override the Clock+

The Clock+ performs validations when employees clock in and out for work or start meals and breaks. Depending on how the clock is configured, it might reject clock entries when they occur too late, too early, or on unscheduled days.

For example, employees can’t clock in if they are over 30 minutes early or late. If an employee comes to work 40 minutes late, when they try to clock in, the clock entry is rejected.

Note: For more information on which validations the clock performs, contact your system administrator.

There are two types of overrides you can perform at the clock:

  • Clock entry overrides. This type of override allows employees to clock in or out for shifts, meals, or breaks when it would normally be too early or too late to perform that clock entry type.
  • For example, an employee arrives at work 30 minutes early. Because of the settings configured in the employee’s time entry policy, clock entries earlier than 15 minutes before their scheduled start time are rejected at the clock. Instead, their supervisor overrides the clock to allow them to clock in early.
  • Shift overrides. This type of override allows supervisors to override all of the validations for an employee for an entire day. The override lasts the number of hours specified in the 'unpaired threshold' client property (configured in System Admin > Client Properties).
  • For example, with an unpaired threshold of 16 hours configured, all validations the clock would normally perform are overridden for any clock entries that the employee makes in the next 16 hours.

To override the clock, on the Supervisor Mode screen:

  1. Click the override button that corresponds to the type of override you want to perform. For example, to override a shift, click the Shift Override button.
  2. When prompted, enter the badge number for the employee whose clock entries you want to override.
  3. The clock shows a confirmation message that the employee’s clock entry has been overridden.
