To use biometric verification on the Clock+, you need to install a driver for your external biometric reader on your Windows operating system. Also, the Clock+ supports biometrics only in the out-of-browser (OOB) version of the clock that you must install as a standalone application in Windows if you want to use fingerprint authentication. You install both the OOB Clock+ and the biometric drivers as a part of the same installation process using the same .exe file.
Before You Begin:
- You need to download an .exe file to start the installation. Go to https://community.dayforce.com/s/article/000003257 to download this .exe file and to find additional installation instructions.
- Don’t connect your external biometric reader to your computer before installation. You’ll connect it as a part of this procedure.
- Only a Windows user with administrator access can perform this installation.
- The installation process for the biometric reader isn’t fully localized in French.
For information about enabling biometric verification on the Clock+, see Biometric Verification and Fingerprint Enrollment.
You install both the OOB Clock+ and the biometric service and drivers as a part of the same installation process using the same .exe file. These processes are described in the procedures below:
- Install the Out-of-Browser Clock+
- Install the Biometric Driver
- Launch and Register the Out-of-Browser Clock+
- Connect Your Biometric Reader to Your Computer
Install the Out-of-Browser Clock+
To install the OOB Clock+:
- Download the “DayforceClockSetup.exe” file to the computer that you’ll run the Clock+ on.
- Locate the “DayforceClockSetup.exe” file and double-click it to run the installation. If Windows opens the User Account Control dialog box to confirm whether to run the installation, click Yes.
- Windows opens the install wizard for the clock.
- Click Next, accept the license agreement, and then click Next again.
After you accept the license agreement and click Next, the installation wizard shows you different biometric reader drivers that you can install. It’s recommended that you select only one biometric reader type per installation.
To install the biometric driver:
- Select the biometric reader driver that you want to install.
- Click Next, and then click Install to confirm that you want to install the reader.
- After you click Install to confirm that you want to install the reader, Windows pauses the clock installation and prompts you with another wizard to install the biometric driver.
- In the installation wizard for the biometric driver, click Next.
- Windows runs the installation process for the driver, and then finishes the installation process for the clock. The wizard indicates whether the installation process was successful.
Launch and Register the Out-of-Browser Clock+
After installing the OOB Clock+ and biometric driver, you need to open the OOB Clock+ and register it.
To launch and register the OOB Clock+:
- Do one of the following to launch the OOB Clock+:
- Double-click the Dayforce WebClock shortcut icon on your desktop (if available).
- Open Dayforce WebClock in the Start menu.
- In File Explorer under C:\Program Files (x86)\Dayforce\Dayforce WebClock, click launcher.exe.
- Windows opens the OOB Clock+.
- Register the clock. See Register Your Clock+ Device.
- Click Register.
If successful, the OOB Clock+ shows the clock user interface. The clock should show the orange fingerprint icon () in the home screen to indicate that the biometric reader isn’t connected.
Connect Your Biometric Reader to Your Computer
Now that your OOB Clock+ is active, you can connect your biometric reader to your computer.
Connect your biometric reader and refresh the clock. You can do this by tapping the F5 key, or by closing and reopening the OOB Clock+. After you connect your biometric reader, the clock shouldn’t show the orange fingerprint icon () icon.
