Before You Begin: By default, Dayforce Touch Clocks aren’t shipped with a battery. However, batteries are available as an optional add-on.
Before you can start using the clock, you must first install the clock using the instructions in the Dayforce Touch Clock Hardware Guide. This document is available at go.dayforce.com/global-time-clock-manuals.html.
The clock supports two forms of power supply: external power supply and Power over Ethernet (PoE). If the external power supply is connected when you turn on the clock, the clock uses the external power supply, rather than PoE. If the external power supply is later removed, the clock will not use PoE until you restart the clock. For more information about restarting the clock, see Maintenance.
Note: You can use an external reader on the Dayforce Touch Clock through a USB connection. No additional configuration is required in the clock program.
After the clock is installed and the power supply is connected, you must complete the following steps:
- Register the Clock
- Assign the Clock to a Location
- Access Administrator Mode
- Update the Clock Database
- Test Clock Communication
Note: Depending on the functionality you configure on the clock, there might be additional steps you need to perform before employees can clock in. For example, if you configure the clock for biometric verification, you must first enroll employees for this feature. For more information, see the appropriate sections of this guide.
