This section describes how to configure the Dayforce Clock Pro and Clock+ clock programs to match your organization’s needs. Your clock program configuration affects the functionality that’s available on the clocks, such as the types of supported clock entries and whether the clocks use biometric and PIN validation.
You should publish your clock program configuration on at least one test clock to confirm that your configuration is appropriate and functional. After that, you can publish the configuration to the rest of the clocks, as described below.
To configure the clock program in Dayforce:
- Go to Site Setup > Clock Configuration.
- In the Device Type drop-down list, select Dayforce Touch / Pro or Clock+.
- In the second drop-down list, select Unified.
- In the Clock Configuration Group drop-down list, select a clock configuration group.
- Dayforce shows the current configuration for the clock config group in the Configuration tab.
- In the override config file (or, config.custom.xml) section, update the necessary sections. You only need to include the parts of the file you want to override. The clock configuration automatically includes the other parts of the default configuration file (that is, the config.xml section).
- For more information about the functionality that you can override and how to configure it, see Clock Program Libraries.
- When you’re finished editing the custom configuration, click Validate.
- Dayforce validates the configuration that you specified. If it finds errors, edit the configuration and then validate it again.
- When validation completes successfully, click Publish to push the updates to the clock.
The Dayforce Clock Pro won’t reflect the changes that you made to the config file until you update the software. The clock updates its software automatically at the interval or time specified in the config file, but you can also update the clock software manually. See Clock Maintenance (Dayforce Clock Pro Only).
