Answer types are the customized responses that you assign to your survey questions. When employees interact with a clock survey and review the questions, they must choose between one of the two answers to complete the survey. For example, you can create a “consent” answer type where employees must choose between “I agree” and “I disagree” responses.
Each answer type you configure must contain two responses. If you attempt to save an answer type that contains only a single response, the application generates an error and indicates that each answer type requires two responses. Further, after you add two responses to an answer type, Dayforce doesn’t allow you to add a third response.
You can customize as many answer types as needed to support your business requirements, with varying degrees of complexity. You can also associate your answer types with as many survey questions as required. For more information on configuring survey questions, see Configure Questions.
You configure answer types in Site Setup > Clock Surveys > Survey Question Setup, in the Answer Types tab. In this tab, Dayforce shows each answer type that’s already configured in the left side panel.
Each answer type is assigned a unique name for the purposes of identification. When you select an answer type, Dayforce shows its responses in the Answer Type Options section:
If necessary, you can change a response’s position in the hierarchy. To do this, click and hold the rearrange icon () to drag the response up or down. Alternatively, you can click the arrow icons on the right to change its position. You can also localize, edit, and delete each response.
To create an answer type:
- Go to Site Setup > Clock Surveys > Survey Question Setup.
- Click the Answer Types tab.
- Click Add.
- Enter a name for the answer type.
- In the Type drop-down list, select the response type.
- At the present time, only one option is available: Single Response. This option requires two response options and the employee must select one of the responses to complete the survey.
- In the Answer Type Options section, click Add.
- In the Answer field, enter text for the first response and click Ok.
- Repeat steps 6 and 7 to create a second response.
- Click Save.
