Clock Device Setup

This section describes how to assign your organization’s clock devices to the appropriate locations in Dayforce. Employees can use clock devices to record when they start and stop work and take meals or breaks.

Note: Before you assign clock devices in Dayforce, it needs to be configured to connect through your internal network, and online.

There are two subfeatures where you set up your clock devices.

Clock setup subfeatures
Subfeature Description
Site SetupClock Devices

In this subfeature, you add new clock devices. When you add a clock device, you must configure its MAC address, device type, time zone, and more:

With the appropriate configuration, you can also run a report in this subfeature that summarizes information about your organization’s clock devices.

See Add a Clock Device in Site Setup.

Pay SetupClock Devices

In this subfeature, you configure additional criteria for your existing clock devices. You can customize which locations a clock device applies to, configure security codes, and assign clocks to device groups, configuration groups, relay schedule groups, and survey groups:

Add a Clock Device in Site Setup

Before employees can use any clock, it needs to be set up in Dayforce, which is done in Site Setup.

To add a clock device:

  1. Go to Site SetupClock Devices.
  2. Click Add. Dayforce adds a new, expanded row to the list of clocks.
  3. Enter the clock’s MAC address in the MAC Address field.
  4. Enter a description for the clock device in the Description field.
  5. Select the clock device type from the Device Type drop-down list.
  6. Select a time zone in the Time Zone drop-down list.
  7. Ensure the Enabled checkbox is selected. This checkbox is selected by default when you add a new clock device.
  8. Click Save.

Dayforce adds the clock. Now you can assign the clock to the location in your organization where it will be used and assigned a time zone.

Continue Clock Device Configuration in Pay Setup

To continue the clock device configuration:

  1. Go to Pay SetupClock Devices.
  2. Select the new clock that you want to set up from the list. Clock devices are most easily identified by their MAC address.
  3. Enter a description of the clock device in the Description field.
  4. If appropriate, specify a Security Code. This is a mandatory step if you’re configuring a Clock+ or Clock device.
  5. When you specify a security code, users are prompted to enter the code along with the clock name when registering a computer with the Clock+ or Clock:
  6. Leave blank and the Clock+ or Clock registration doesn’t require a security code.
  7. Select a time zone from the Time Zone drop-down list.
  8. If you’re configuring a Clock:
    • Optionally, select a different language in the Default Language drop-down list.
    • Select the Use Everest Theme checkbox to use the new, reimagined user interface on the clock. Leave the checkbox cleared to use the legacy user interface.
  9. Select the Active checkbox to enable the clock device. Employees can use the clock only if it’s enabled.
  10. Select a location or multiple locations where the clock will be used in the org picker.
  11. Click Save.

Dayforce saves the clock’s configuration and it’s now ready for use by employees to record when they work.

Note: After you set up a clock, you can update the clock’s database remotely at any time for standalone clocks by selecting the Update Database checkbox in Site Setup > Clock Devices.
